A heritage of innovation

Building on over 100 years of aviation innovation in Cambridgeshire, Duxford Aviation Technology Campus is a new Aviation Technology and R&D campus, forming a new node on both the UK’s and Cambridge aerospace innovation ecosystem.

Designed to deliver flexible mid-tech accommodation, the scheme will accommodate aircraft designers, manufacturers and operators with a wide range of supporting services and space to design, test, build and research in one place, from R&D and engineering to production and hangar-ready facilities.

The evolving masterplan offers occupiers unique flexibility to grow and expand in a thriving, campus-style environment.

Inside an aircraft hangar, several people in white lab coats work on developing and testing drone aircraft. One person is working on a small drone, another is inspecting a futuristic-looking, bubble-shaped vehicle. There is a computer with data charts, and in the background through the open hangar doors, small planes and a vintage military airplane are visible flying in the sky.

ACADEMIC INNOVATION POWERHOUSE

Whittle Laboratory, University of Cambridge

Leverage one of the world’s leading aviation and propulsion research ecosystems. Gonville & Caius, a partner in this project and a constituent college of the University of Cambridge, has owned land at Duxford for over 400 years. Its long-term stewardship of the site, combined with Cambridge’s world-class research strengths, helps underpin the vision for Duxford AvTech. Nearby, the New Whittle Laboratory houses the UK’s National Centre for Propulsion, leading research into zero-carbon flight and advanced energy systems.
